Château Angludet wines available at ABC!
The wine estate of Château Angludet belongs to the Sichel family, who have been wine merchants in Bordeaux for six generations.
Situated in the Médoc on gravel deposits from the Garonne, the estate produces a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel under the Margaux appellation, which is often on par with a Grand Cru Classé in terms of quality.
The first records of a noble residence on the estate of Angludet (which translates to "angle of high land") date back to 1150. The first lord of Angludet, who is referred to in a deed from 1273, was Bernard d'Angludet. The vineyard at Angludet has been in existence since the beginning of the 17th century.
The work begun by Peter Sichel in 1961, which he continued for more than 40 years, allowed Château Angludet to pick up the threads of its glorious past and gain the recognition of growing numbers of connoisseurs all over the world.
The 2010 Château Angludet, Margaux was conservatively rated by Wine Advocate 90 points, but Robert Parker gave it a very enthusiastic review calling it “a major sleeper of the vintage” and “one of the best d’Angludets I have tasted.”
The 2010 Château Angludet, Margaux is available at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits for only $44.99, but quantities are extremely limited. Don’t let it get away, as well as any other remaining 2009 and 2010 Bordeaux. They won’t be back and prices of those two vintages will only go higher in the future.
Here is Robert Parker’s full review of the The 2010 Château Angludet, Margaux:
A major sleeper of the vintage, as I thought from barrel several years ago, the 2010 is one of the best d’Angludets I have tasted. It should drink nicely for 15-20 years, but there is no reason to defer your gratification. It is a sexy, up-front, precociously styled d’Angludet with a deep purple color, loads of floral notes intermixed with licorice, blueberry, black raspberry and, of course, the classic creme de cassis. It is dense, ripe, soft, round and surprisingly accessible for a 2010. A beauty!
The Sichels are also proud co-owners (with Mähler-Besse family) of Château Palmer in Margaux.
Other domain wines from the Sichels available at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits include Château Trillol, Corbières, Château d'Argadens, Bordeaux, and Domaine Pellehaut, Gascony.
