Dubois Nuits St. Georges
The portrait of Louis XIV (most common royal gift in its time) still decorates the walls in the hallways of some distinguished homes in the village of Nuits St-Georges in Burgundy. Old Louis was advised by his physicians to drink the heart-healthy wines from Nuys (Nuits St-Georges) to chase away any illnesses.
Not much has changed in the past few centuries (except for the spelling), not the wines of Nuits or the doctor’s orders.
The wines of Nuits St-Georges are considered to be elegant yet robust and age worthy Pinot Noirs.
That was proven “sans faute” once again by Raphael Dubois to our ABC Wine Team visiting the Dubois winery in Nuits St-Georges on October 22nd .
Raphael is the owner and winemaker. All wines tasted that day showed power and elegance; the older vintages were complex, supple and distinct. All tasters’ favorite wine was the Nuits St-Georges 2008. The wine exhibited a lovely bouquet, bright ruby-red color, flavors of red fruits and cranberry, ripe tannins and long, balanced finish.
The 2008 Nuits St-Georges from Dubois will be available the second half of December at your favorite ABC store.
Cheers to your health.
