Organic Wine Labeling - European Union

March 2012 Germany 015AB (agriculture biologique) label for wines from EU

The AB logo above is a seal owned by the French state.  It stands for Agriculture Biologique.   Products can be labeled with this mark when they contain at least 95% organic components, were produced or processed within the EU, and were certified by one of the inspection bodies accredited by the state agency.

Starting with the 2012 vintage, European Union wine labels will show organic wines on the labelRemember that organic wines are actually made with conventional methods; only the grapes are organic. (Remember to look for the AB seal on 2012 wine).
