New Roussillon Wine: 2010 Cuvée Constance
In the past 2-3 decades the Roussillon wine region in Southwestern France has captured the attention of some of France's most recognizable and respected wine personalities: Michel Chapoutier, Bernard Magrez, Jean-Luc Thunvin, etc. Not only that, the Roussillon wines have been getting a lot of attention lately by the world’s top Wine Critics.
Our selection of Roussillon wines at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits is growing and is very well received by the wine enthusiasts.
The 2009 Occultum Lapidem ($24.99) from Chapoutier’s Bila-Haut, awarded 95-97 points by Wine Advocate, is one of many examples of moderate- to low-priced wines of extremely high quality.
A new addition to our Côtes du Roussillon selection is the 2010 Cuvée Constance by Thunevin-Calvet.
Jean-Luc Thunevin, Saint Emilion’s “Bad Boy,” has teamed up with Jean-Roger Calvet to create one of the most respected wineries of the area.
The 2010 Cuvée Constance, a blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, was aged in cement tanks to preserve the freshness of the fruit and exhibits aromas and flavors of black cherries, blueberries and currant. The wine is medium-bodied with a round mouthfeel, silky tannins and a longlasting finish.
Priced at only $14.99, the 2010 Cuvee Constance received 90-91+ points by the Wine Advocate, which makes it one of the best values currently available.
