Halloween "Hallowine" Banshee Mulled Wine

I can’t believe a year has gone by since we starting writing a blog post, but I do remember writing a post on what wines go with Halloween. So I’ve been looking around for some other “Hallowine” themed drinks and came across  “The Banshee Mulled Wine”. It looks pretty easy to make and would make a good drink to serve at your next Halloween party. No real banshees were harmed in the making of this punch.

 The Banshee Mulled Wine

  • 1           bottle Zinfandel  (Vampire Zin?)

  • 1           peeled and sliced orange ( keep the peel to add to the cooking pot )

  • 1           peeled and sliced lemon  ( keep the peel to add to the cooking pot )

  • 1           tsp ground nutmeg

  • 2           tsp ground ginger

  • 5          whole cloves

  • 3          cinnamon sticks

  • 1/2      cup sugar or honey

  • 2/3      cup brandy

  • 1/2      cup water

Combine all ingredients in either a large pot or a slow cooker. Gently warm the ingredients on a low to medium heat (avoid boiling), for 20-25 minutes. Stir occasionally to make sure that the honey or sugar has completely dissolved. When the wine is steaming and the ingredients have blended well it is ready to serve. Ladle into mugs, garnish with a blood orange segment and enjoy.
