What to try this weekend: Roscoe's Hop House

In Florida, you're going to find Roscoe's Hop House ales only at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits, so we handed some to beer guru Stephen Schmitt at our Gandy (Tampa) store and asked him to taste.

Stephen's notes: Smells mostly of sweet grain with a little citrus. The taste is mostly sweet bread with some citrus and pine hanging around.

Stephen's notes: Pours amber with a light head. Citrus, lemon zest, and pine up front. This has a great citrusy nose. Pine resin, citrus, and some sweet tangerine are the start of the show. This is a great beer to pair with food.

Roscoe's Hop House IPA

  • 86 Points "Highly Recommended"
Silver Medal  - World Beer Championship 2011

Stephen's notes: Pours light amber with a white head. The nose is light with whispers of citrus and a hint of pine. There is a healthy dose of pine resin up front with some citrus hanging around. Unsurprisingly, pine dominates the finish.
