Bernard Magrez's 2008 Tour Blanche Médoc
Bernard Magrez is a leading family-owned and operated wine company based in Bordeaux. Bernard Magrez, a self-made businessman, is the sole owner of four Bordeaux Classified Growths: Château Pape Clément, Château La Tour Carnet, Château Fombrauge and his latest addition from Sauternes, Clos Haut-Peyraguey.
Today his portfolio is composed of 40 vineyards covering Bordeaux, Languedoc, Provence and eight other countries: Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, the U.S. (California) and Japan.
Château Tour Blanche in the Médoc is an elegant Cru Bourgeois. The grape blend (65% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Petit Verdot) is unusual for the Médoc, with predominantly Merlot, but the wine has a distinct Médoc personality. The 2008 Tour Blanche exhibits aromas and flavors of black cherry, currant and plum. The fruit is accented by notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, dried herbs and spicy oak. Pair this medium-bodied red blend with roasted meats, pasta dishes and aged cheeses.
Priced at only $17.29, the 2008 Tour Blanche Médoc is one of the best values for red blends available today.
