Not Another Pinot Grigio
Wait! I know what you're probably thinking. I must be really desperate for material to be blogging about another pinot grigio. After all, don't wine lovers scorn the incredible popularity of this bland, inoffensive, uninteresting wine? Well despite what some may think, sales of pinot grigio continue to grow in the United States.
But this is not "just" another pinot grigio. La Cappuccina Pinot Grigio is the newest addition to our Italian portfolio. Many of you are already familiar with the terrific quality wines produced at La Cappuccina (Soave, Fontego and Madego).
The Tessari family has been making wine at the La Cappuccina estate located in the Soave region for over a century. The Tessari's are the organic pioneers of Soave, having adopted organic methods and principles since 1985.
So how did producers of world class Soave start making pinot grigio? Elena Tessari explained the "Pinot Grigio is dedicated to our father who enjoyed this crisp wine and chose it when we were in Venice for Sunday lunch, and this was for him an acceptable alternative to Soave wine he deeply loved and cultivated and produced with great passion."
The Tessari's planted their pinot grigio on the same volcanic soils as the garganega used for the Soave. This pinot grigio is one of the only organically cultivated in the Veneto region. Refreshing, tangy fruit with delicate spice; elegant with excellent depth and length of flavor in harmony with pronounced mineral notes derived from the volcanic soils where the vines live. This is NOT just another pinot grigio.
