Left Hand Brewing Company: Day Two in Denver
Day two of our Denver trip, we were ready for some more brewery tours. Our next stop was Left Hand Brewing Company in Longmont. On our drive there, we were greeted by the snowcapped Rockies. It was a medium-sized brewery with nice sized bright tanks.
We went up to the wraparound bar and ordered our brews. I picked one of my favorites of their lineup, the 400 Pound Monkey English style IPA. As I waited for the others to get their beer, I listened to the Rush cover band playing in the main hall. Once everyone was brewed up, the tour commenced.
Our guide was very nice and explained all of their equipment. I was interested to find that the brewery name derived from the Native American Chief Niwot with Niwot being Arapahoe for left hand. We went to a few more rooms and topped off with another brew. This time I picked a nitro tapped Wake Up Dead Stout.
The guide brought us up a narrow scaffolding to look into their impressive mash tuns. All of it was very nice with good beers to boot. Afterwards we piled into our minivan and prepared for our next brewery stop.
