What's new from France: Cave de Tavel
Two new wines from “La Cave des Vignerons de Tavel” are now available at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits: Les Acanthes Rosé, Pays du Gard 2011 and Les Acanthes Viognier, Pays d’Oc 2011.
Situated in the heart of the Rhône Valley, Cave de Tavel is one of the oldest wine cooperatives of France. Built in 1937, it produces France's most famous rosé wine, Tavel Rosé AOC.
The 2011 Les Acanthes Viognier, Vin de Pays d’Oc, was vat fermented and aged and exhibits aromas and flavors of white flowers, stone-fruit, and peaches. Enjoy this refreshing white wine as aperitif on a hot summer day. Only $7.99
The 2011 Les Acanthes Rosé, Vin de Pays du Gard, was made by direct pressing of Grenache and Cinsault. The wine exhibits light strawberry/peach pink color. The wine is medium-bodied, bright and round with flavors of strawberries, raspberries, field flowers and fruity finish. Enjoy with mixed salads, grilled meats and fish. Only $8.99.
The other two wines available at ABC from “La Cave des Vignerons de Tavel” are Domaine des Carteresses Tavel Rosé AOC ($12.99) and Lirac AOC red ($12.99).
