What's the "mother-load"?
Traveling to wine country here and in Europe over the past 16 years has changed immensely for me. I remember taking so much luggage with me that it was given the nickname "mother-load." You'd think after having to drag all my suitcases up narrow staircases in Europe and down "cobblestone" alleys I'd have learned after the first trip! But..........no, not me! It took many years of brutal traveling with my "circus" and the eventual limit on luggage imposed on me, (and all others) by the airlines, that I can finally say I travel with one carry-on and one not-so-huge check-in bag. I've sadly retired the "mother-load" suitcase to the elephant burial grounds. (The only place that had room for it!!)
As you can see from the photo it took a "master packer" to get all our luggage in our tour car! I wasn't the only one who overpacked back in the day.
When traveling to Europe the weather can vary tremendously from one country to another, all in the same day! This involves packing jackets, umbrellas, long-sleeved tops, etc., all making that packing a challenge. I have collected so many great tips over the years that I'd love to share. If interested......let me know!
