Good things are coming!
Having just spent a week in France, including four days tasting thru the 2009, 2010 and 2011 vintages, both red and white, in many Burgundy cellars, I am happy to report good news to fans of these wonderful wines! Tasting the 2009s again made it clear this is a vintage for those of you who also enjoy California’s more elegant chardonnay and pinot noir. The 2009s are rich and supple, with plenty of ripe fruit--surely a flattering vintage which will be popular in our market. The 2010s are definitely more classically styled, with brighter fruit and a slightly leaner, more elegant feel. Brighter acidity in the whites, and more red fruit and spice (rather than black fruit, as in 2009) in the reds. Earthy and powerful, they are sure to delight pinot noir and chardonnay fans in the classic style. 2011 wines were just finishing, so they were a bit harder to assess, but they appear to be more like the 2010’s with freshness and restraint. Can’t wait for them to arrive! And I can assure you we will be adding in not only new vintages, but new estates and more varied selections!
Good things are coming!
