Take me back to Talamone
For most people returning home from a trip to Tuscany, their most vivid memories are probably of the spectacular countryside dotted with medieval castles and Renaissance villas. Wine aficionados will no doubt fall in love with the classic wines of Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Chianti Classico. Those who are enamored with art and history will dream of wandering around Florence admiring the works of so many Renaissance masters.
Few people, myself included, ever come home speaking about the beautiful Tuscan seacoast. My memory bank was forever changed after my most recent visit to Tuscany.
We set out from our hotel in Montalcino and drove for more than an hour toward the coast. We had a lunch and visit scheduled at one of my favorite producers of Morellino Di Scansano, Fattoria Querciarossa. As we arrived early, our host Jonathan Shiekman suggested we make a quick detour to the town of Talamone.
Talamone is one of those places that just leaves you breathless with its beauty. Surrounded by turquoise water on either side of the promontory which the town occupies, Talamone inspires both romance and relaxation. If you are planning a trip to Tuscany this is definitely a worth wile visit.
Another fun fact: the latest James Bond movie (Quantum of Solace) used Talamone as the background for one of the films most beautiful scenes. The cast of Quantum of Solace was initially scheduled to spend five weeks in Talamone. Rumor has it they ended up spending an extra two weeks because they were so in love with the location.
Aspiring actors looking to spend a few weeks in Talamone.
